Fires in Italy

Italy is unfortunately a place where fires are common. They are mainly caused by extreme climate, dry summers and violent heatwaves. 

 

Fires in Italy have the potential to spread quickly due to a combination of atmospheric and landscape factors. In recent years, fires in Italy have been particularly destructive. One of the worst accidents was a fire in the Campania region in 2017. Huge fires engulfed, among others, the nearby islands of Ischia and Capri, causing huge losses among people and infrastructure.

The Italian government regularly takes measures to prevent and combat fires, such as better forest protection, creating firebreaks and increasing public awareness. Italy also receives help from other countries, including the European Union, when the situation is particularly dangerous. Regardless of these measures, the problem of fires in Italy is still a challenge that must be faced.
